The Dumbledore Family Tree in Harry Potter

Bloodlines are frequently emphasized in the Harry Potter universe; here’s a summary of who’s who in the Dumbledore family tree.
In the Harry Potter franchise, the story of Albus Dumbledore’s family tree is full of deception, betrayal, and grief. Dumbledore is a powerful wizard, as evidenced by his legendary duel with Grindelwald and his appointment as Headmaster of the Hogwarts School of the Witchcraft and Wizardry, making his family background more interesting. Dumbledore first appears in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone when he acts as a mentor to a young Harry Potter, sending him on dangerous journeys with his pals Ron and Hermione.

Dumbledore sends the titular wizard and his pals on increasingly difficult missions to confront the dark wizard Lord Voldemort and his Death Eater followers throughout the first Harry Potter novel. Some reviewers were perplexed as to how Dumbledore gets away with endangering others. However, as more information about his ancestors has been available, the moral intricacies of the wizard’s existence have grown more apparent.
Until the subsequent books in the series were published, nothing was known about Dumbledore’s past. A more accurate family tree of the Dumbledore bloodline may be formed thanks to additional information about the backstories of various characters provided in Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore. For example, readers are introduced to Ariana, Dumbledore’s sister, in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Every known member of the Dumbledore family is listed below.

Albus Dumbledore

Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore was the most famous and successful wizard of the twentieth century. He was also recognized for being Lord Voldemort’s sole fearful wizard. Grand Sorcerer, Supreme Mugwump, and Chief Warlock of the Wizengamot are among his many famous titles. Albus met a young Gellert Grindelwald, who had come to stay with his great-aunt Bathilda Bagshot in Godric Hollow not long after graduating from Hogwarts. The two young guys became fast friends and subsequently fell in love after bonding over their shared love of the Deathly Hallows and the ideology of magical supremacy over Muggles. Dumbledore and Grindelwald were so in love that they made a blood covenant not to attack each other. To protect his family, Albus will eventually leave Grindelwald’s side. Despite being scarred by his sister’s death, Albus continued to succeed in the wizarding world, such as when he collaborated with alchemist Nicolas Flamel to develop the Sorcerer’s Stone.

Aberforth Dumbledore

Dumbledore’s brother, Aberforth, is frequently seen in the Harry Potter series tending the Hog’s Head tavern in Hogsmeade. During both of Lord Voldemort’s Wizarding Wars, Aberforth was a member of the Order of the Phoenix. He was in charge of smuggling witches and wizards into and out of Hogwarts using a secret tunnel hidden behind a portrait of his sister, Ariana, discovered in the Hog’s Head. Aberforth had always held Albus responsible for his sister’s death, but he put his sentiments aside to aid his brother in his battle against Grindelwald and Voldemort.

Credence Barebone/Aurelius Dumbledore

Mary Lou Barebone, the leader of a No-Maj anti-witchcraft organization known as the New Salem Philanthropic Society, adopted Credence Barebone, a wizard. Credence developed a dark parasitic power known as an Obscurus and was transformed into an Obscurial, the entity’s magical host. He is revealed to be Aurelius Dumbledore at the end of Fantastic Beasts 2, who was taken in by Gellert Grindelwald following the events of the previous two Fantastic Beasts films. In Fantastic Beasts 3, Aurelius is Aberforth’s estranged son. It’s unclear whether Credence is alive or dead by the movie’s end.

Kendra And Percival Dumbledore

Albus, Aberforth, and Ariana Dumbledore were born to Kendra and Percival Dumbledore. Ariana was only six years old when she was discovered practicing magic by many Muggle boys. Percival cast a magical spell on the guys in retribution for the fearful boys attacking Ariana. Percival couldn’t explain why he attacked the boys because he was afraid Ariana would be arrested for violating the Statute of Secrecy. Percival was imprisoned in Azkaban and eventually perished there. Kendra Dumbledore, Ariana’s mother, relocated the Dumbledore family to Godric’s Hollow, where she continued to care for her daughter in secret. Rumors began to circulate that Ariana was a squib, a non-magical kid of wizard parents Kendra had hidden out of shame. Kendra probably didn’t do anything to dispel these allegations because they helped Ariana stay safe. Ariana’s wild, magical outbursts eventually killed Kendra.

Ariana Dumbledore

Ariana is Albus Dumbledore’s sister who passed away. Albus explains that Ariana was an Obscurial in Fantastic Beasts 3. Her outbursts of magical fury caused a slew of internal family disputes. Aberforth questioned Albus about not adequately caring for Ariana, particularly since Albus was preparing to flee with his lover, Gellert Grindelwald. When Grindelwald learned of Aberforth’s meddling in their plans, he unleashed the Cruciatus curse on him. This prompted one of Ariana’s magical outbursts, which resulted in her death, most likely at Albus Dumbledore’s hands. Since then, Albus has carried the blame for his sister’s death.

Albus Dumbledore is still regarded as the most powerful wizard ever, even after his death. As more Fantastic Beasts films are released, new secrets regarding the Dumbledore family may be uncovered. Despite suffering immense sadness due to several catastrophes, the Dumbledores remain one of the most powerful wizarding families in Harry Potter’s Wizarding World.
