Once again, Simon Helberg is making people laugh, but this time it’s on Mayim Bialik’s podcast, Mayim Bialik’s Breakdown. Two years after working together on The Big Bang Theory’s 12th and last season, they got back together for As They Made Us. Mayim’s first movie as a director was the family drama-comedy, which came out in April. Simon was also in it. People who watched the show know that Simon played Howard Wolowitz and Mayim played Amy Farrah Fowler. Recently, the host of Jeopardy! had him on her podcast, where they talked about funny things that had happened to them, like when people told them they didn’t like Big Bang Theory.
“People would come up to me, especially when the show was on, and say, ‘Listen, I hate your show,'” Simon told Mayim and her cohost/boyfriend, Jonathan Cohen. “That’s how they would start a conversation with me. I mean, all the time. “I can’t stand your show, but my uncle, brother, high school bus driver, rabbi, dentist, etc.”
It was so meaningful to work with @simonhelberg on my new film, #AsTheyMadeUs, especially after working together on @bigbangtheory. We were so thrilled to welcome him to the podcast! Listen ▶️ https://t.co/x92W5ebShn 🧠💥 #bialikbreakdown #mentalhealth #MentalHealthMatters pic.twitter.com/ndXAXxCh8W

Simon said, “I was kind of like, ‘You are all these people, aren’t you?’ It isn’t about your eye doctor—you like the show! No, maybe you don’t. Mayim couldn’t help but laugh and nod along in the background. “People would say, ‘I don’t like your show, but my grandmother does,'” she said.
After he talked about the not-so-nice things that happened to him because of his role on the show, fans of The Big Bang Theory flooded Twitter to say how much they love the cast.
“I’m sorry that people tell you that, but I love the show. “I’ve seen every episode from the beginning to the end, and I still laugh out loud… amazing cast, well done… and thank you for every laugh. I was with you the whole time,” one person wrote in the Twitter comments section. “Listen, I liked your show, but so did my dog. People could relate to the characters. The show showed how hard it is to be a nerd and date. @missmayim Seeing how Amy changed as a person showed how good you are at acting. “Brisket has never sounded so good,” said someone else. “You and @simonhelberg are so cool, @missmayim. I love everything about how you act on Big Bang Theory. Someone else said, “The episode where Amy and Howard become friends with Neil Diamond made me wish I had a friend like Amy or Howard.”
All of this means that, even though the controversial show stopped airing in 2019, it is still making waves in the entertainment world. And in case you didn’t know, a new book called The Big Bang Theory: The Final, Inside Story of the Epic Hit Series is coming out in October of this year. It will give fans a deeper look into the show’s history.
